This Is My Apology

This Is My Apology

A Poem by ali
"

I really messed things up with one of my best friends and the poem is sort of summed up by the title. It's my apology if I had the chance to give one.

"

Salt on a wound

Gasoline in a fire

I guess I'd been lead

By selfish desire

Thought that I could aid

When the rain turned to sleet

But I've shattered the windows

Glass then stuck to my feet

But when I walk slowly

There's blood on my track

I wish I could run

And never look back

But typewriters type

Leaving letters behind

But life's not a tape

I cannot rewind

But damn it, I'm sorry

I don't know what to do

If I could fix the window

I'd make it up to you

It was my best intentions

To help you smile

But I pushed you away

Guess I'll leave for a while
