Dreams and Fantasies

Dreams and Fantasies

A Poem by linear
"

Looking out into the misty sea

that somehow seemed to relax my mind

the sound of the waves lapping on sea shore

and my thoughts drifted, as often they would

To a time before time took it's toll

whisps of hazy clouds in a crystal clear sky

and a girl, with summer in her eyes

lips of crimson droplets to offer

I remembered the satin shoe's

the heel that broke

your laugh, the way you walked the sway of hip

that dress of gossamer, calico print flowers

Alas, you were but a dream, a fantasy girl that filled my head

and yet

locked away in my closet keep

lies a satin shoe, with it's heel broken, and further down where none can see

is a stolen kiss..............

The end reminds me a little of Peter Pan. I think the beauty of Peter Pan, especially the movie with Robin Williams is that Neverland is as real as reality. It seems like an extension of it, yet we can still pull back and see the imagination and the creation there.

With that said, I love what you have created here with the exotic woman, who in essence, is summer personified. I really enjoyed how you described her and the clue that you left about her existence. However, I think that it would also be good if you could show us that she seemed to be fake and then offer the proof of the shoe and the kiss to show that she is real. I think that approach could preserve the magic of the experience that you have built.
