The Opposite of Love

The Opposite of Love

A Poem by Michael
"

See if you agree with the acrostic message.

"

Although many think it, it’s not hate.
People have to feel to hate.
Another group sees it as anger,
That is so very far from the truth.
How can any feeling at all be the opposite of love?
You cannot love and lack feeling.

Can you love someone and hate them at the same time? I think so, how can hate be its opposite then?

Yes, there is a thin line between love and hate. In order to be able to love and/or hate someone you need to feel for that particular person. Love and hate both are human emotions. One can only state that when you hate somebody to some extend, your love for them has lessened but has not gone completely away. It is perfectly possible to have a love-hate relationship.
It is only when apathy comes into play that there is a complete absence of feeling, so yes, apathy can be seen as the opposite of both love and hate.
Very well spotted and a joy to read!

I think if one is / was truly in love then you defiantly loves that person
But at the same time hate the things they are/ have done to you
But that's just me
I have even hated to have loved a person

Yes you can love and hate someone at the same time. I've experienced such feeling in my own personal life. There truly is a fine line between love and hatred. Well written acrostic. Thank you for sharing. Debileah

oh yes it has been said before but it is a fine line between love and hate. I think you are absolutely right here the opposite of love has to be apathy. Feeling v non-feeling. Well put. Nice acrostic.

The opposite of love, in some opinions is fear....anger and jealousy and the rest all come from fear, therefore hate=fear of some form. Good, thought provoking

A really well made point here - the opposite of love is when you just don't feel anymore - I completely agree with your sentiment - great write!
