The Last Petal Falls

The Last Petal Falls

A Poem by Undying Glory
"

It's actually a song, that's why there's a chorus. About death and how I feel about it.

"

The Last Petal Falls

The moon is shining bright
As I stare into the
Blackened, deep,
Emptiness of night

But you’re not here now
As I think of how and
What I was
Supposed to have done

Just standing on the brink
Watching you from far below
And I know you’re up there
And you’re never coming back anymore

Standing on the edge of the grave
At the edge of the world
Where you lie now, my girl
How I wish I could have saved you
Pulled you back from the dead
Just another of the things spinning round
In my head
And here I am on the edge of the town
As the last petal comes falling down
Can’t control myself
As I spiral into the
Silent, bleakness,
Emptiness in my head

Now you’re just too far away
And I think of how and
Why did I
Do nothing to help you

Just watching from my room
Pray to God the pain will go away
As I watched you pass on
But no one was ever here to stay

Standing on the edge of the grave
At the edge of the world
Where you lie now, my girl
How I wish I could have saved you
Pulled you back from the dead
Just another of the things spinning round
In my head
And here I am on the edge of the town
As the last petal comes falling down

Remembering you again
Brings back all the things
That make us who we are

Through all the grief and disdain
Broken hearts and shattered rings
As we watched the falling stars

And as I’m clutching the rose in my hands

Standing on the edge of the grave
At the edge of the world
Where you lie now, my girl
How I wish I could have saved you
Pulled you back from the dead
Just another of the things spinning round
In my head
And here I am on the edge of the town
As the last petal comes falling down

As the last petal falls

Brilliant capturing of emotion. I love the chorus, the title, "the last petal falls" is quite an original line, I think of dying flowers and how time is up for someone.
Regretful, remorseful, sad.
When I think of death, it scares me. I think, how can we die, we have lives, how could you just suddenly not be there?

A thought provoking and powerful piece. I love the title, it gives the impression of life wilting away like flowers. A beautiful and heartbreaking poem.

great homage to lost loves/friends/family...we've all known someone at one point or another. I'd be interested in hearing this in a song. Great job.

This is heartbreaking... The emotion, the imagery were all so vivid and tangible. The chorus was amazing. I wish I could hear it to music. It nearly brought tears to my eyes, just reading it. Excellent work. You are absolutely one of my favorite writers on this site. Keep up the great work.

The desire in the poem is what most of us feel when we lose someone. Your description was strong and powerful. I like the flow of the poem and the desire to have done more. A very good ending to a excellent poem. Thank you.

When we lose someone, thoughts and questions we never thought we would ask or feel flood over us, I understand this too well! Great poem, there will always be a doubt after someone dies that we did not do enough!
Moving poem love xx

Good lyrics for a song. If not meant as such, I'd use 'around' instead of 'round' or at least I'd write it as 'round. :-)
