Road To Happiness

Road To Happiness

A Poem by Undying Glory

Just another day at the park...

Road To Happiness

Step by step
Pace by pace
Walking along that long, undulating road
Of peace, serenity and calm,
My parents by my side as we walk.

The soft scent of the deep sea air
So sweetly intoxicating our hearts and souls
The soft rays of the distant, dying sun
Reflected off the sparkling, rippling seas
Shining more brilliantly than all the diamonds of the world
So gently and deeply infiltrating our senses
The soft call of the nearby rain trees
So delicately swaying in the endless evening wind
As they shroud the road in mystery and deep intrigue.

One by one, I watch my problems softly melt away
So like the ephemeral words carved into the shifting sands
Washed into the ever-flowing waters of life,
And soon they are all no more.

Look around you.
Look at those laughing and playing with friends and family.
Look at those watching the wonders of nature
That no postcard could ever capture truly.

Isn't it strange how some own much wealth and riches
Many branded goods and fancy cars
More than we could ever imagine
Yet happiness still eludes them?
And yet those who have so little
But are contented with all that they have
And they possess all the happiness in the world?

Look around you.
Do you not see the beauty and joy
In all the simple things around us?

Do you not feel happy and thankful now?

Great wisdom in your words. Wealth don't make a person happy. At the end of a life the good deeds and gifts of love will make you feel and know peace. Last line is the question we all need to ask. Are we on the right path? A outstanding poem with wisdom and logic.

A true great. A wisdom beyond all ages. A truth universal. The mantra to happiness to well being. A masterpiece in my opinion. You have written great, wise words and sooner or later, the very rich will also realize. As they say, money can't buy happiness , money can't buy love..A delightful poem to that evergreen concept..Great job UG

I love how you always make people stop and think at the end of the poem... This is an extremely interesting read. I love your style. Its very, very airy.

Beautiful! This was one of my favorite parts:

"The soft rays of the distant, dying sun
Reflected off the sparkling, rippling seas
Shining more brilliantly than all the diamonds of the world"

I think this is my favorite you sent because it's so honest. It is funny how people always think money will bring them happiness. It may for a short time, but it's hollow materialistic happiness, it's not true happiness we all deserve.

This was wonderful and I know how it feels and have smiled when
I see all that is around me. I am not rich by any matter but I am happy.

Thanks for sharing.

Good work in a tightly worded poem that in itself is a message to mankind. There are a few too many 'syrupy' adjectives early on for my taste, and these lines need a bit of work:
"And yet those who have so little
But are contented with all that they have
And they possess all the happiness in the world?" I'd suggest 'and yet there are those...' or 'who possess all...' - something to correct the syntax. :-)

I swear... your poetry is made of awesome! This hits home. It truly does. I love the way it makes you feel. Calm and relaxed. At least for me it did. Made me want to slow down and enjoy the little things in life. Great piece. Thanks for requesting it!

So true! I'm not sure if it's the amount of money they own, it's if the money owns or consumes them. I''ve know wealthy people who, did appreciate the simple things in life and were very happy people. But they usually weren't born weatlhy either. I love the peace this poem gives me as I read it. I felt like i was on the beach with you walking and watching and smelling the waves of the ocean. Beautiful!
