Daddy

Daddy

A Poem by Midnitefyrfly

So many things come to mind
whenever we hear your name
It seems without you in our lives
nothing will ever be the same

What happened to those days?
It seems like its only been awhile
since our days were filled with

your sweet love, and your smile

What happened to all those times
when we always looked to you?
No matter what happened in our lives
you always knew what to do

Some days we hear your voice
and turn to see your face
Yet as we turn around...it seems
the sound has been erased.

Daddy, who will we turn to for answers
when we just don’t understand?
Who will be there for us like you were

to kiss us and hold our hands?

Daddy, if we could turn back time
and once more hear your voice
We'd tell you that out of all the dads
you would still be our choice

Please always know we love you
and no one can take your place
Years may come and go, but

your memory will never be erased

Very nicely done. It had a perfect sound and the right blend of daddy's little girl and an adult perspective. It was also refreshing, because when I read the title, I thought it would be of the same ilk as Sylvia Plath's "Daddy". I was glad to see this had a purity in its emotion.

my dad passed away three weeks ago, and i can't tell you how much your poem touched me. to me, he was the best daddy in the whole world. even though it's sad, and even though i cried, reading things like this, and being reminded of him makes me happy too. thank you.

This hit close to home. Like may women, I was a "daddy's girl" and this piece has sentiment for me. I teared a bit reading this moving poem.

This was a sad piece but a nice tribute to the man and your love for him. T

A lovely, well expressed piece. Sometimes I found a father's role can change, even when they're still around. Somehow I was never as close to my dad once I hit a certain age so, even though he was still there, somehow I missed him. I appreciated your thought and sentiment here.

Very, very nicely done. You expressed the thoughts here that anyone who has lost a family member can use to comfort their souls. Kudos!
