Inferno

Inferno

A Poem by Mike Espinosa

There’s a fire between us
and I’ve thrown away the extinguisher.
I want the flames to build
to feel the heat grow on us.
I want to get burnt and scarred by this
to remember what you made me feel
on that fateful day.
The furious heat swelling up inside
or outside myself.
I can’t tell where one fire ended
and the other began.
We have the fire-
contained-
but I don’t know if it means anything-
to you.
