the Note I Left

the Note I Left

A Poem by Mike Espinosa

I apologize, family
I'm sorry, friends
but this is the way it has to be
one less mouth for you to feed.
In the years I've been here,
I have learned from you all.
And don't think I am selfish,
I am doing this for you- To wish
for my return or to travel time
won't help anyone anymore.
As the Buddhists say, "To live is to
suffer." If I wish to suffer no
longer, then I must stop living.
I will purposely misinterpret this
noble truth, to justify my rationalization.
I've learned that we're never the same after creation.
We see the world and the people
for what  they are- a burden
I cannot let myself be a hurtle for
you to jump everyday. So, this is more
than enough to lift this boulder from
your shoulders. Goodbye to you all.
From the deepest portions of my heart,
I have loved you all from my ending to my start.
