Why did you leave me to fight them both alone Why did you leave all on my own Do you not know the pain this caused And that now my life is continually on pause I really don't want to be angry with you Because I know deep Down that's what you had to do To escape the misery you chose to break free But in breaking free, behind is where you left me To face them both and to face their wrath How I wish I could have followed you in your path One that lead to eventual happiness and peaceful nights One that never endured those glancing sights Or words of threats to leave you trembling inside Or the fear of night so you sleep with your eyes open wide I really don't want to be angry with you You chose your path, my future you didn't have a clue That leaving me alone still hurts to this day If I could find the words I don't know what I would say

That I understand why you done what you did

My anger inside my heart was hid

I didn't realise it was there till one day
When I opened up and managed to say
That you left me all on my own
The realisation of 30 years hit me once I was grown
