To My Dearest Friend

To My Dearest Friend

A Poem by Tucker
"

This one's for you DT. Let's find our happiness, no matter how soon it will be ripped away because at least then we tried, instead of perpetually living for tomorrow and never knowing how to smile.

"
My dearest friend, my only ally,
     a brother not of blood, but of lives of love;
My heart does wrench with your every despret sigh,
     for us, no light seems to shine from the heavens above.

We were given light,
     that blinded our kind from the truth.
They have stolen our sight;
     this society uncouth.

And as we watch them destroy this earth,
     the only true god, this world ignores;
We will sit by the crashing surf,
     and envy the freedom of those on all fours.

So many wars fought,
     a series of grave human endeavors.
And all those years, peace was sought,
     by human nature, those ties were severed.

My friend, maybe we are wrong,
     to sit and watch this brutal, tortuous murder.
So let's raise our voices, and sing our song,
     and run from the ever-collecting band-wagon herder.

Appreciate our grand successes,
     and celebrate the simple joys.
For as the smog of society closer presses,
     we will need to live our larger ploys.

My dearest friend, my only ally,
     a brother not of blood, but of lives of love;
Today, let's grasp our happiness before we say goodbye,
     and, at the hands of our kind, at least we can die happy thereof.
