Uh-Oh!

Uh-oh!

This was so nice. My world was so perfect suddenly. Calvin and I loved each other and nothing would ever mess that up. I couldn’t remember the last time I was so happy. I mean, even work had become quite eventful, our last couple cases turning out to be a success.

I woke up enclosed in Cal’s strong arms, feeling him breath softly against my hair. Sighing happily I snuggled closer to him. “Good morning, baby.”

He rubbed my back and yawned. “Morning,”

Wait… I thought. That wasn’t Cal’s voice…

My eyes shot open and I leapt to my feet, staring down at my best friend. “Roux?”

He looked just as shocked as I was. “Oh my God!” He sat up. “Did we…?”

That thought hadn’t even crossed my mind! I looked myself over, almost breaking down into tears when I saw that I still had all my cloths on. I slumped down on the floor, shaking my head. “I kissed you…”

He shoved his hands into his long blond hair, closing his eyes. “Shane, I am so, so, so sorry. I don’t know what came over me…” His eyes shot up. “Me. Me! Tell him it was me, Shane. Or better yet; don’t tell him at all! Calvin doesn’t need to know!”

“Yes he does,” I told myself more them him.

“No, Shane. That’s suicide. Don’t hurt him like that.”

But my mind was made up. Calvin had to know. I’d cheated on him now, I didn’t want to lie to him too. God, how could I be so stupid…?

I stood up and ran for the door, trying my hardest not to cry. Calvin was perfect for me in all aspects of the word. I loved him unconditionally, and then I go and turn everything into crap! I wanted to bang my head against the Eiffel Tower (why the Eiffel Tower Shane? I don’t know!).

Roux was running after me. “Shane no! Don’t do this!”

“Don’t talk to me right now, Roux! I have to go.” I flew down the stairs so fast that I lost my footing at the bottom and face planted into the carpet.

“Shane!” Roux ran down. “Are you alright?”

“No!” I screamed, pushing him away when he tried to help me up. “Everything was finally going good, damn it! Then I go and mess it all up?” I staged to my feet. “No, Roux, I’m not alright! I’m pretty damn bad actually!”

He slowly approached my shaking body. “Shane, it was just a kiss. Just a mistake. He’ll understand.”

“I hope so…” I sobbed slightly. “God, I hope so…”

Roux rapped his arms around me, but I was able to hold my tears in. “It’ll be okay,” he soothed. “It’ll be okay, Shane.”

When I was able I stepped back from Roux and took a deep breath. “Thanks.”

“And you know I’d never come between you two. Never.”

I nodded. “I know. Call you later.”

“Shane?”

I rolled my eyes and turned on my heels. “What Max?” I snapped. “What in the world have I done now?”

His eyes looked at me solemnly as he stood before me in his usual suit and tie. “Shane…” Adrian and Tyson were standing behind him, all with the same uncomfortable look, avoiding my eyes. “It’s…”

I looked from face to face for answers. “What’s going on? Is it a new case?”

“Something like that,” Max croaked.

Adrian looked up. “Shane…” He bit his bottom lip.

“Oh my gosh!” I laughed. “You guys! What? Just tell me.”

Max put his hand on my shoulder, sighing. “Shane… They’ve got Calvin.”
