Rainy Departure

Rainy Departure

A Poem by Michelle Anselm
"

Don't wait up, babe.

"

A flowing minidress across her form

The concrete was wet from the pouring storm

The taxi's seats were dry and warm

The cabbie waited patiently

As rain drops splattered against the panes

As sunlight peeked through drying clouds

The soft click of the door handle

As her heels and her purse made for the hotel lobby

My lips barely had time to say

Goodbye
