Martyr's Cry

Martyr's Cry

A Poem by Kristina Moulaison
"

The world wants to vanquish all wisdom and yet the light of its burning illuminates the darkness that surrounds it.

"

A lofting voice must fall, alight

to air its truth, a proper sacrifice

for hearkening bells, quiet glory

sweet sage help, an offering

of spice, a fledgling sunrise

cocooned in cloak and ash

lying fallow til many a darkened night

relents an intrepid morning,

releasing dove without return

at last, a patch of ground to seed, found-

a newly minted clapper in felt

wearing hard against metal, until

the curtain asunder should tear

rings in rippling avalanche-

Messiah's widened arms

still nailed, as bound as witches

that both burn as bright, aloft

creations felled, sacred tree

These words touch me very deeply. As someone whose spirituality if forced to be defined would be a Pagan/Witch who also chooses to follow the light of Christ--your words have great meaning and power. I truly enjoyed this piece of your work!
