Fifteen Years

Fifteen Years

A Poem by Madame Simple
"

Love letters

"

For fifteen years I wrote to you,

And not once did you reply.

The first year I was eager.

I wrote every single day, but you did answer.

The second year I was meager.

I reduced my words, but you did not read.

The third year I was stable.

I remained constant, but you did not see.

The third year I was able.

I published my letters, but you did not toast.

The fifth year I was famous.

I was adored by many, but you did not rejoice.

For fifteen years I wrote to you,

And not once did you reply.

The sixth year I was scorned.

I was caught in fire, but you did not help.

The seventh year I mourned.

I had lost it all, but you did not support.

The eighth year I was mended.

I was strengthening, but you did not smile.

The ninth year I was bended.

I did not see the car, but you did not cry.

The tenth year I was crippled.

I surfaced in the hospital, but you did not visit.

For fifteen years I wrote to you,

And not once did you reply.

The eleventh year I was departed.

I recalled nothing, but you did not service.

The twelfth year I was half-hearted.

I only remembered you, but you did not know.

The thirteenth year I was annoyed.

I wrote and wrote, but you did not reply.

The fourteenth year I was destroyed.

I loved you, but you did not return.

Why ignore my cries?

Why disregard my prayers?

The fifteenth year I recollected.

My memories had returned.

And so I cried and cried,

For it was fifteen years ago.

That you had certainly died.

For fifteen years I wrote to you,

And not once did you reply.
