Wishing Need

Wishing Need

A Poem by M Lamont
"

A view of a crafty "other person".

"

I just need you to understand
Something I know full well
You only have him for now
A temporary situation, at best

I’m nothing if not patient
Crafting my plan of make believe
Of the non-lived life of me and him
A picture too askew for clarity

I like you with him for now
Please train and refine him well
I will have no time for teaching
Once our destiny is fulfilled

Time will show the world
What my plan was meant to be
You, faded into what was
Me, front and center

With him

I'm reading a bit of darkness here, but maybe that's just from my past experience with my ex. He waited to reveal his true self until after we were married.
Overall good write, I really liked reading it.

At first I was lost as to who "him" was, but after several reads I came up with this: It's the other you, the one she likes so well, while the real you waits. A different sort of take on a relationship (if I'm correct). It seems to be a blueprint for disaster. Isn't it best to deal in honesty? The poem is well written. It conveys the images clearly (except for the one mentioned) of the "temporary situation," the "plan" (not so crafty). the "training," and the unfolding over "time." I especially liked S2-L4 (but then I would.) Actually my favorite line was "You faded into what was / Me." some nice writing here.
