I Love You.

I Love You.

A Poem by Kimberly "Melody" Carney
"

I do not write to make you happy, nor to hear you agree. I write to make you think as thought will set your soul free.

"

I love you, such words of power,

like a thief your heart took.

Words that have lost their raw luster,

merely a worm on hook.

We give the meaning no meaning!

Shaken it to the core.

Delve past the spoken, take action,

show you mean something more.

The moments that fell by the way,

replaced, by I Love You.

Rekindle its fire, create spark,

by the things you can do.

A man can lose his voice its true.

Be known for what you do.

In a world that has lost all trust

Show them that, I Love You.

~Melody

^^loved that stanza:)
Anyways the whole poem was very good, and a nice and not over-used concept. Well written indeed. Good job:)
God Bless

Far too many people focus upon the words 'I love you' as opposed to the actions that speak louder to proclaim to the world, 'I love you.' We take for granted those words and throw them about as though the more we use them, the more emphasis it is shown of our love for someone.

^^hands down my favorite part of this poem. Its true that people throw around 'I love you' and use that as the hook...more like talons in my experience. All too often, especially the young or those deeply in love with someone, will fall for it. Sometimes all it takes is those words to turn someone into a giant malleable puddle. Unfortunately, the speaker of this phrase often doesn't understand the connotations of what they mean, or they rely solely upon the meaning to get what is desired and then run for the hills. Or perhaps its a couple who have been together for years who have grown lazy and apathetic to what is really required in a relationship.

Perhaps I'm just over analyzing your poem. Brilliant write, considering it certainly initiated the above thought process! lol

I like the message. General idea is warped by the inversions you keep using. It muddles everything up.

Some people play with words so much that the poem loses meaning. Be careful because this poem was on the edge for me. I do like that you made an overused theme and made it your own though.

"Love" ... is such over-used and aggrandized word. I frequently wonder what it means. It has been so used, misused, and abused. It hardly seems worth the effort to try and incorporate it into anything meaningful these days. Certainly anything anyone would actually believe or resonate with. Not that I think this piece is insincere, far from it. I think it strives for yet another honest definition and to that end it does succeed.
