At the minds end

At the minds end

A Poem by Kimberly "Melody" Carney

winter northern lights

We all have seen better days

Some pretty bad ones as well.

I know I have.

I run into people all the time

Who always feel

They will never be happy

Due to one reason or another

Do we even know what happiness is?

Can one person define for me?

Without using a biblical quote

What love?

Joy

Freedom

Or happiness is to them?

Nine out of ten times

Expressions to describe them overlap

We all look so much to our surroundings

To find contentment

It’s not there to be found!

It's something you

And you alone must find

From within yourself

Truly experience that

That which is surrounding you

Learning to filter out the bad

Yet learn from it

Cherish the good

Yet learn you must keep moving forward

Learn how it is possible to be happy

To be peaceful in the midst of a chaotic world

Peace is found at the minds end

This poem carries a lot of truth.

It reminds me of the lyrics of some Reggae
singer who's called Peter Tosh from Bob Marley and the Wailers

it goes like: ' I guess what they want is some peace of mind......
you can't borrow it from a friend
So mine got to come from within. '

WELL DONE !!!

Enjoyed this read. Like the title. It made me think literally of my own 'mind's end' at first sight. I also thought of the limits of all all our minds, where our thought and rationality stop. Which leads into the core of your poem, happiness. I agree with what you seem to be saying that it is not a mind thing, that it is in us or it is not. Perhaps we are born with it. Perhaps like intelligence we should think of each individual having a HQ or Happiness Quotient. Some of us are just plain lucky, seem to be happy whatever our circumstances. Others continually strive. Others are just plain sad, miserable, or malicious. So here's to the naturally happy! We all need 'em to keep smiling - for all our sakes!

I know I'm happy...when I can smile without thinking about it. There's no one way to define it...because one person's discontentment, could be another person's life long dream or wish come true. Interesting thought..

Our soul reminds us what contentment really is, even if we carry out the normal daily routine of our lives thinking that this is what we should be doing. One could easily move on to a place which satisfied one's utmost crave for completion in mind body and spirit, but in fact cannot because of others ruling one's life, not in a bad way, just in a habitual way, therefore leaving one incomplete for ever. However we must take a look around and see and be thankful for all our blessings and live our life as we see fit.
Great subject here

This literally brought me to tears. I've been struggling alot recently with the thought and idea of what happiness actually is and was wondering why I didn't understand it's full meaning. Your poem has reassured and inspired me. A truely wonderful piece.
