give me

give me

A Poem by aspen

give me all your pain,
I will swallow it whole

give me all your tears,
I will drown my soul in them

give me all your screaming silence,
I will drive myself insane within it

give me the flames in your eyes,
I will burn my insides with them

give me the emptiness in your heart,
I will fill you up to the brim

give me your trembling body,
I will keep it from falling to pieces

give me your soul,
I will take it to the cosmos when we're far past gone

'Give me the emptiness in your heart..." That line speaks the most to me. Often times we find ourselves absorbing the husks of others who simply have lost their way. Even more, we find attraction in those who are missing their souls. The soul is such a precise gift, yet can we taken and torn at any moment by anything. Thank you for sharing a piece of your mind.

Your poem conveys a longing to seemingly become one with another who’s struggling. The way you word things, I can feel a sense of desperation, as if the narrator intends to rescue the person being addressed. You suggest many possible rescue attempts to be made, but in the end, I’m feeling this might be a futile mission. Some desperados just can’t be rescued, so I’m not in line with this idea. But I know many people love exactly like this, so you’ve illustrated it powerfully (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
