What part of 'cant' is it that you don't understand?

I try, but often can't listen to our old songs.

The person singing is so long gone.

Sometimes, I feel okay, and nothing but proud,

but other times it's like the sun has gone behind a dark cloud.

It serves as a reminder those days are gone forever,

are over and done, to return never.
