Days suddenly gone

I used to believe things would work out,

we'd right the ship but now I have my doubts

You can't fix a problem if some refuse to see

the shining city on a hill that we used to be

We used to be an example for others to strive for,

we used to have compassion, but not anymore

We used to be educated, we used to be wise,
