Winter State of Mind

Winter State of Mind

A Poem by M F
"

Feeling a little numb lately.

"
When I close my eyes, the lights are still on. The months pass by, but still nothing changes. The sky is still grey and even when the sun begins to shine, the birds don't sing. Or maybe they do, only I can no longer hear them. Each afternoon my whole world becomes grey. My mind, body and soul. And each evening I feel myself becoming bitter and cold, like the winds that rattle against my window every night. And even in the morning, with my eyes wide open, I can hear that relentless rattle. I long to hear the birds merrily singing their chirpy little songs, I long to be merry. But for now, I have no choice but to accept this numbness, and wait for the grey to blow away.
