 PRELUDE TO MESSIAH. PART TWO.

 

God among men? God walk on Earth? What fantasy

Is here?

Rome stood alone with Jupiter; and Herod shook

With fear!

Behold where lepers lose their sores, where

Erstwhile blind see clear!

Where lame men walk, and dumb men speak,

Where deaf men  once more  hear!  

 

Whispers grew as a young man grew:

Of signs in the Heavenly pall:

While great men laughed and turned away;

From the wild-eyed prophets call,

While the thunder slowly ended:

God stood as man,  within the wall:

The mills of God grind slowly - but

They grind exceedingly small.

 

Whispers grew of undreamed things: 

A dead girl raised from bed!

A dead man raised, a tempest calmed,

The hungry given bread.

 

May be, may be, but offence is this,

The Truth preached to the poor!

A sin against the whole of Earth;

A breach of man made law!

 

The whole  wide world remembers yet,

That Visit of our Lord:

We keep it's record  for all time:

As our new Highway code:                          

No peace brought he to men on Earth,

But division and a sword;

He left to men to change their ways,

To show a cleaner road:

To turn from Chaos, and shun the Sin,

That makes man's ways erratic.

And gradually sort sheep from goats ,

Evolving Men from Static!
