Free Us From It All

Free Us From It All

A Poem by Brittany

I held your hand beneath the storm,

thunder aching in your teeth,

lightning flashing in your eyes.

The Gods warned me,

pouring Pegasus rain capsules down my spine.

The flight was on hold,

frozen in time's still waters.

The waves collapsed over your face,

the sun casting scares from the remnants of the days.

The invisible flame ignited,

like the needle prick matchmaking with hepatitis.

My sunhat was violet that day,

corroded with the reckoning of growth.

You transferred the earth beneath my feet,

with seared candlesticks,

nurtured by acid rain droplets.

Your laughter haunts the void,

as desolate as it be,

your map regenerates like a child's cry for salvation.

So here's my proposal,

eternity can't wait,

for time bleeds for me and you just sit and wait.

The pictures decay,

for I can't stray from the ivy you tainted my lips with.

Just one day, you'll meet your past,

shove a fork in your toes and say,

"destiny doesn't want you anymore, but I can't wait it all,

for time has abandoned me,

so just kill this day and free us from it all."
