Kiss Me Goodbye

Kiss Me Goodbye

A Poem by dawn aulis
"

I wrote this poem almost 20 years ago to my father, when I got married, it would have broken his heart had I given it to him back then, so I held onto it for many years.

"

Kiss me Goodbye

Today’s the day I’ve longed for,

And the one that you dread so,

And although I know you want me to be happy,

I understand, you don’t want to let me go.

As we take our walk today,
I’ll know you wish me all the best,

Even though your heart will be aching,

I know this union you have blessed.

With a smile upon your face,

And a tear in your eye,

You’ll give him my hand,

And you’ll kiss me goodbye.

While our vows we are taking,

You’ll wonder if he knows,

The woman he has married,

Is still the girl that you love so.
