The Girl in Me

The Girl in Me

A Poem by dawn aulis
"

This is a poem about myself and my inner struggles along life's way.

"

The girl in me

I found someone today,

Someone from all those yesterdays,

Young and sweet, and oh so alone,

Someone I used to be,

Hurting to the bone.

Crying out for someone’s touch

So alone, and beyond my reach,

Tiny girl,

Who cleared the breach.

How did I do it,

To wind up here,

Somehow I made it,

And now it’s clear.

Life is good on the other side,

But there she is in my past,

That sad sad girl,

In the looking glass.

Wish I could tell her,

It would be okay,

Hold on tight,

Cause you are on your way.

But she can’t hear me

Way back when,

She has to live life,

And learn to fend.

Pretty thing looking sad,

I will hold her in my heart,

Tiny girl,

I was at the start,

Now I know the truth of life,

I was perfect,

The world was blind,

All alone how I shined.
