That Face

That Face

A Poem by Michelle Lea

That face

It’s been awhile since my face…

has felt a smile

It’s not seeing your face…

that makes me frown

Times before it was all you…

that lifted me up when I was down

Now seems as though I’m…

forever down with a frown

No soon return in site…

this gives me such a fright

What to do but sit alone in the dark…..

     nite

      after nite

Longing for that special feeling of…

     those long passionate

                nights of the past

                  to come back to me

bringing back that smile on my face

just to see your face would bring it all back

that face

This was such a beautiful poem full of passion and love. I could relate so much to the emotions expressed in this piece, and I thought that you captured that sense of desperate longing really well. The repetition was used perfectly, and the simple yet poignant last line made for a really moving piece. Nice work,

This is such a good reflection of love lost. That face, my face, your face... that face.
Brilliant really.
