'Unique' Is The Trend

An emo poem. Sort of...

 

You’re a sorry state, all dark and morbid                                    

smothered by what defines your ‘self’.

Emotion’s not just black and basic,

there’s far more to it, and it might help

 

to break yourself from social trends.

(They want your soul, not just your ‘look’)

Defy the standards they enforce,

and take back all the joy they took.

 

Uniqueness ain’t consumer goods.

Self-expression can’t be found

stocked in shops attached to labels;

A lifestyle under fifty pounds.
