Free Fall

Death may end sadly but the process towards it can be quite fun

I rock back and forth
Anticipation is coursing within me
Suddenly my name is called
I snapped out of my day dream
I hear the airplane engine roar like a lion
I look out at the window behind me

We are far away from solid ground
Ahead of me was my sky diving teacher
The doors open
I look below me
My body seize with natural fear of free-falling

I closed my eyes for a moment
My body calmed down
Now it was ready for the experience
With a final sigh I jumped out
As I left the plane my instructor shouted something
I could not make it out til  I came to a horrid realization

I left without my shoot
I flailed my body every which way to prolong my death
Tears were streaming down my face
The tears floated near my eyes for a bit
I could seem them clearly
Within the tears light penetrated thorough
It created a rainbow using a prism effect

Seeing this rainbow brought me peace of mind
I decided to enjoy this brief experience before I died
I stretched my hands and legs apart
The wind rushing around my body was amazing
It felt heavy around me
Soon I did back flips and somersaults in the day sky
After a bit of fun I turn my head towards the bottom
Soon the land and I will be meeting
A thought passed
I wondered if I will be able to feel the impact
I cringed at the idea
The feeling passed
1000 feet from impact
500 feet from impact
200 feet from impact
I was ready to die happy
100...50..25...10....5.....

AND

So as you read my final letter
I hope I have shown you
That when facing death
It is not impossible to have a bit of fun
Before you die
You might as well start the afterlife with a bang

That's a nice thought :) I have never thought of death that way, it was always quite a fear. But this? It's so optimistic it's wonderful. I would l love to see your world one day :)

It is not so easy to meditate on death….
But it seems that it is very easy for you…….
I cant see any fun…..while thinking of death…
All I experience…..is a nagging fear…

It would be a very quick death. A powerful poem. I like the description. You brought me in and took me a long with the free fall. I did a few jumps in my Army days. Best feeling in the world. Even better then being the ocean. A outstanding poem.
