Lovers

Lovers

A Poem by Ashley
"

Written while i was mourning the end of my relationship to an ex of mine

"

I love you

And you don’t love me

A most tragic tale

Between two once lovers

Who now don’t even speak to one another.

So you ask, how can she love him

If she never speaks to him?

Well, it’s quite simple

She still remembers that voice from

The year previous

And she still remember s that oh so lovely laugh

And that most handsome face.

She also remembers the tears shed in her room

Late at night

When she would attempt to explain to herself

Why she loved him

And could never find a reason

And all the pain caused by her former friends

Because she had betrayed them

And all the worrying

Because it seemed that his only talent was lying.

She still loves him though

For reasons even unknown to her.

She doesn’t understand it

How she could still love the one person

Who caused her the most pain?

But she’s come to accept the fact

That you will never even look at her

Or speak to her,

Unless needed

So she takes the letter you gave her

And tapes the torn edges together

Reading it over and over

And dreaming of what could have been.
