Midnight Splendor

In the light of midnight splendor

I feel my life slipping away

I see within my mind’s eye

The splendor of a bright new day

My life on earth now has ended

I’m floating high above the earth

In the brightness of God glory

My soul discovered my new birth

No more pain, no more sorrow

All my tears are wiped away

In the distance I see lost loved ones

My childhood friend Misty Mae

Aunts and uncles, all long dead

Grandma and Grandpa I do see

Clothed in brightness of God’s glory

Holding out their arms for me

Family members I never knew

They are so familiar to me now

Bright shining faces in the crowd

No one has a worried brow

A brilliant light beckons me on

Within the light I see God’s face

Smiling with His arms outstretched

A glorious rainbow ends my race

Color here has new splendor

Oh so much brighter than before

Clear water of the crystal sea

Rippling on the sands of heaven’s shore

Streets of gold, heaven’s highway

Jeweled street signs guide me on

Rivers flowing with milk and honey

At the breaking of this glorious dawn

Breaking dawn reveals God’s plan

The reason I was even born

All knowledge is mine to hold

Reasons why no one should morn

All the knowledge of the ages

Fills this tiny mind of mine

Walking on clouds in God’s realm

Standing amidst God’s shrine

Approaching the throne I kneel

Bow my head in homage to the King

Around me I hear gentle voices

All the angels around me sing

Singing of God’s great glory

I have reached my reward

Life on earth was just a moment

My life eternal with my Lord

Soul and body come together

No pain or sickness anymore

Yes I heard my Savior knocking

So glad now, I opened the door

I see a crown filled with jewels

My creator holds it up high

All my loved ones waiting

Welcome home I hear them sigh

Oh no don’t call me back

Please allow me to stay

I’m not of this world anymore

Oh dear family this I pray

I feel the shocking of my heart

Pulling me back through time

Away from my immortal body

Back to a world of filth and grime

This heart of mine fights return

Electricity’s burning sting I feel

My beating heart getting stronger

My life restored so surreal

Midnight splendor lost in darkness

Heaven’s light has drifted away

All my loved ones sadly waving

You’ll come again another day

I awake to artificial light

Not the brightness of before

Faces of live loved ones smiling

I’m back on earth once more

My first words to my loved ones

Next time my heart fails to beat

Let me go, don’t bring me back

At God’s table I’ll take my seat

Brightness, of my Savior’s light

Filled my soul with heavenly song

I tell you now; I’m not afraid to die

My eyes have beheld heaven’s throng

Reading this brings some sort of serenity and some kind of spiritual healing. I don't know if I should take reluctance to be alive again a negative tinge in this heavenly poem, but it sure does create some sort of deviation from the normal ones. You sure describe heaven in such an enticing way.

Keep Writing. ^___^

An overwhelming write but in a very good way. I'm very very impressed. This one was very emotional to me. I can't find the words to describe how it made me feel or to praise it. Outstanding!
