Overnight Success

Overnight Success

A Story by Naomi Bloom
"

A drabble about determination and perseverance. A drabble is a flash fiction consisting of 100 words; no more, no less.

"

He has been building it his whole life.  Small steps are taken every day.  He reads until his eyes start to water and he can’t absorb any more information.  He asks everyone for clues, more data.  He calculates every option, factor, possibility.  Quickly jots down notes.  He attends lectures, conferences.  He tests, destroys, rebuilds.  He has been studying it since he was a child.  People think he’s obsessed, unstable.  But today his heart flutters, he’s in a good mood.  Because tomorrow everyone will know about his brilliant discovery.  And just to irk him, they will call it an “overnight success.”
