A Poem by Grace Noelken-Anderson

TW: nonconsensual/sexual assault implications. A free verse poem about somebody I knew.

The freezing lonely rain

The panicked evening air

Shrieking cars drive past me

I bet they know it all

I told you that night

Only you that night

The first person I told

And would only tell for years

And you thought

And you felt

And you said

I was exaggerating

It wasn’t wrong that

As a child

One bold young woman

Took away my childhood

And you told me I consented
