My last hope

My last hope

A Poem by Mk.t.g

My last hope
you once promised me infinity
not but a fleeting hope
gone with the wind
scarred

So much truth in so few lines. Distilled honesty.

Life's true battlefield sits in our chest, some of us have more arrows sticking out of us, than others, but we all know the battlefield. Nice poem, thank you very much

Through logic the promise itself should have given away the underlying lie. We WANT to believe. That is often to our own demise. Faith and love never hurt or harm, our unfulfilled expectations however...

Yes, I do understand the poem. I kept old love letters to remind me. Don't rush love. More liars than lovers. Very nice dance of words dear poet.

You are welcome.
Such disappointment and pain felt in this piece of brevity. Promises broken and scars left in their wake. That unfortunately is all too common in life.

Thanks for reviewing, Chris!
Promises can be broken not only because of unfaithfulness, but because of life. it hurts, yes it does, but even scars can be healed with hope, trust, faith and courage. I wish You all the best and peace my friend.

Indeed! Thanks for reviewing! Best wishes to you too.
We think we live forever as kids like Peter Pan. Nice brevity.

Thanks for your comment, Andrew!
When we're kids, we feel exempt from growing old. I can still remember how safe I felt from the world in my bed at night, my mother's bedroom right across the hall from my own. The years were fleeting, even then. Promises were just out of our reach from being broken...that came later when we fell in love for the very first time. We all have scars, their origin reads like a history we'll never forget. I like where this took me. Thank you, MK. Very nice to meet you!

My pleasure!
Such succinct and powerful words here Mk. The message resonates in its gravity and depth, especially as we age. Perfect write.

Thanks for reviewing, Annette!
I guess, as kids, without really thinking about it, we assume we'll live forever,
and as grown-ups we still deep down harbor the hope, but we have our doubts :)
You've said it brief & true.
