For You

For You

A Poem by Haley Smith

Passion.
You all try to quell mine.
When the blood gushes to my heart
and the fuel to my soul,
I think ahead.
"Stop taking it so seeeeriously.
Calm down.
Why do you care?"
And this is for the women too,
and this is for the women too.

Adonis -- all of you are.
You emanate the dazzling
but painful light.
I want to gaze at all of you,
but I feel
desperate,
disgusted with myself,
as if I'm not allowed to look--
but you look all day,
and you look all night.

Am I alone in this?
Perhaps I am.

I am Athena, I am thick legs,
I am the power,
the intangible force.
I breathe the sensual
I am the fire.
I feel it with
each
swaying step.
Not for you, but for me.
Not for you, but for me.

My goddess shrivels when I
dare to look at you, any of you.
My mind goes blank
I want to touch you
(but that just makes me sound
d e s p e r a t e!)
Nine letters that make for
constant annihilation.
Lust, s**t.

The power I feel,
the raw,
is not to mock you, not to entertain myself,
but for me
(and maybe for you, if only you'd let me)
but for me
my skin, my hips,
the solidity,
the positivity.
Yes.

I am Athena, I am thick legs,
I am the power,
the intangible force.
I breathe the sensual
I am the fire.
I feel it with
each
swaying step.
And this is for the women, too
and this is for the women, too.
