Masquerade

Hope you like it :) It was inspired by a song i was listening to:)

Is that the person you want people to see?

You hide behind a mask to shield the real you.

Are you afraid to show everyone what you have become?

Your eyes peek out only to see more eyes staring back.

Whats under the mask? Human or monster?

You protect your lies in hopes no one sees right through you.

Heartless, selfish, helpless and all alone.

Nothing left but empty darkness.

Is that the person you want people to see?

The devil in disguise; so cold. 

Why break what's already broken?

Beat down and bruised seeing less than zero.

Behind that mask trying to breath.

Yet, starting to choke with every lie your lips make.

Been years since you've seen your face,

Like a soul lost without a trace. 

Its a shame no one sees you for what you are.

Angel with a pretty face. 

Just a whisper that cant be too loud.

A mystery beneath a woven mask.

Your true identity is better kept secret.

good job amanda i like this poem a lot :D music inspires me too, sometimes i just am talking with someone and i am stringing words into a simple haiku or free verse poem and i rush to find a pen before i forget them haha
