Golden Hatted

Golden Hatted

A Poem by Night Edge
"

Inspired by one of my favorite books, The Great Gatsby.

"
If desperation makes me dumb
Then I am a slave
To spilling black ink on white pages
Assuaging the need of time
And conforming to the standards of
Bespectacled eyes
Love hides
In the valley of ashes all cloaked in yellow
Tearing me asunder
(Plagiarized those eyes from
A book I read; the ashes too)
He thought he could trick me
Could crash me into bricks
A thousand pieces
Glittering green like peridot gems
From an emerald lighthouse
Across a lover's bay
(The bay, the bay, from the book too...
I stole it away)
My own personal secrets
Pass from my lips at his command
By his, by mine
Touch and feel
