Winter Haiku

Winter Haiku

A Poem by Nolo Segundo
"

The cold desolation of winter sometimes reflects that of the heart.

"
Losing her, a dream,
winter ravaged my soul.
The snowman melts.

There is such power here!

Immediately I questioned this loss: is it one of bereavement or one of the heart? It seems that in losing 'her' that life is also lost. That the narrators dreams, present and future are replaced by darkness. The sun; also lost in the arms of winter. All that remains must be damaged by the cold and dark.

Finally, the snowman. This conjured an image of a child in tears. Although the age of the narrator is not given it just seems like the final straw to push sadness into suffering.

Thank you for sharing!

Indeed a description of the permafrost that seals the rejected heart in a cold tomb. That melting feeling being the opposite to the melting in the heat of desire/love as it is cold and barren and soulless.

Thank you Fran-- sorry I didn't get back sooner
The brevity of a piece often tends to be a gravitational pull for me. A beautifully worded haiku!

Very few words but expresses many emotions. I iked this haiku a lot as it perfectly captures the emotion of losing someone.
