A person with regrets

If I can go back in time, the first thing I'd do is change
I'd change my way of life and be a better person
I'd become more understanding, patience, and most of all, brave

I would have given up everything to have been by your side and protect you

I regret the time I made you cry
I regret it when I looked down upon you
I regret the things that never came your way
If only I could go back in time, I would have given up everything
To protect you from our kind

If only I was brave enough
If only I was kind enough
Yet, I can't go back in time
However, I can still make it up to you

Although I don't know where you are in this world
I will spread my good deeds and protect those in need
That way when you hear from this acknowledgment
Understand that I did it for you
And within your heart
I hope you can forgive me

This is such a sad little piece.
Filled with regret, and pain.
Though at least you learned from your mistakes and wish you could fix them.

A sad tale of repentance and of lessons learned too late for this particular flame. If only we could see into the future and see how our actions finally play out - we wouldnt do some things and others we would do with graceful humility.
I got the overwhemling sense of confession of this and yes - the regret.
