A Poem by N.S. Jones

The Fool and his Dog

Move down a one-way road;

Sometimes walking, sometimes running

And the end is nowhere in sight.

Meandering down country roads,

Calm and familiar.

Shades of emerald, amber and gold

Look up to skies of blue;

Storm clouds gathering o’erhead.

Rushing down city roads,

Unfamiliar and exciting.

Blurs of grey, brown and black

The sun sets and neon lights ignite

Seas of faces come and go.

Wonder what’s behind the horizon.

I will weather the storm,

I will find my way home.

Oh, how we change as we grow,

There’s so much for us to learn.

Promises are fulfilled, time moves on;

Once I was lost, now I’m found.
