Swashbuckler

Swashbuckler

A Poem by Nik
"

...

"

You are not Indiana

you should have

tethered your bullwhip lip

let history lie dormant,

instead you heroically

evaded the pit falls,

the angered natives,

protectors of the faith.

Sheer gall camouflaged

it as a selfless deed

then you basked

in halogen egotism.

The storyline

demanded a sacrifice,

the human element

to add weight, depth.

So the sidekick

bore the brunt

victim to what you

let loose.

Now I am deafened

by baying hounds

that should have been left

to slumber,

some things are buried

for a reason

but you dug it up

and saved yourself.

big words for a big writer
I totally loved the way you manage them in small sentences, makes the poem stronger and deeper. not so easy to read on the first try perhaps (spanish is my first language) , but very very enjoyable at the re -reading...
