Tenants

Tenants

A Poem by Gaige

Nailing up a photo of you
Crooked on the wall
Alone in an empty room
Cold corners of thoughts and dreams

People once lived here
A beautiful, loving home
Something started to fade
So something had to end

Dark, gloomy room
Playing with a shadow
Seemingly my only friend

There's a vacancy
My heart is for rent
No one lives there anymore

Because of you
I've started looking the door
The key is hidden

I won't let anyone in
My lonely room
Once so lovely
Now my scarlet prison

I don't want to love
