A Prophetic Dream

A Prophetic Dream

A Poem by Stephen
"

A dream of a ruined life

"
Exhausted from all the endeavors
of reaching for elaborate dreams;
striving for the fulfillment,
of all my plans and schemes

straight to my room I go
to my overly enticing bed
on my soft inviting pillow
I rest my mentally tired head

Into my mind's dreams, I slip
entering the surrealistic realm
suppressed emotions expressed
taking control over the helm

my Subconscious, my guide
showing me around this dream,
revealing the hidden desires
for my attention they scream!

in reality, they are bound by chains,
imprisoned, in this their netherworld;
their impulse in tune with Eternity
from Eternity's bosom, are they unfurled

taken slaves, by their adoptive mother
with my chains, I have bound them
they seek to break the worldly restraints,
sending Conviction, as their stratagem

In this my dream, Conviction paints,
a prophetic message for the dreamer
when he finished, I appraised the work,
giving me a quiet, somber demeanor

Now that the work was finished,
on the painting was something simple
on his hue filled canvas,
was a depiction of a ruined temple

I awake from this dream,
with a new found resolve,
to unchain my desires,
and my life to them devolve

for this is not their world
Mother Eternity, is their inclination
for their adoptive mother is a slave master,
and all her riches lead to damnation

simply beautiful.
such a deep and insightful poem.
I love the way you take abstract concepts and form them into words in an elegance and Sophistication unique to your work alone.
I will not pretend I could ever begin to comprehend the ideas you present in your art, but that does not mean I cannot enjoy it.
Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for reading! Im glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the appraisal and your kind words
This is very good poetry, written about a world of dreams where few are understood and all wishes come true, in a realm untamed. Would it not be an artists true desire to be in the subconscious full time, where are all things are possible? I know I would love it! Thank your for sharing!

Damn! That was really powerful. I really admire your skillful use of imagery, and that slightly satirical tone woven so carefully into your words. Besides being relatable on a poetic level, I feel that this piece could touch anyone.

Phenomenal poem! I absolutely love who you described the dream as a work of art being painted on a canvas, that dreams are subject to this world, and how prophetic dreams can be. You wrote this story so well, I could follow every thought, please please continue to write more!

This is what i called one hell of a classy poem . A thumbs up for this. The underlying meaning here is breathtakingly awesome. It enfolds from dreams to ruined temple... The inherent ability of a poet is ambiguity and you are filled with that trait. It entices the deader in.Leaving her craving for more. Yes we are bound by desires to this world. But it is up to us that we have enough strength to break the shackles. Incredible write. *God bless you* takecare

I love this, this is a deep and energetic poem. Also, as usual, your diction is incredible. However, as I am not very good at understanding symbolism in literature works as I am a new writer, I do not understand what 'the adoptive mother' represents. Can you explain it to me. Thanks very much for sharing.
