Colors

Colors

A Poem by Makayla

You are Red!
Bright! Burning!
Impulsive!
You Stand Out!

I am Blue
Dark. Cold, and Deep
I drown
all company that I keep

We are primary!
Dominant, in our own ways
Blending into a beautiful spectrum
foundation of creativity

I've watched your colors change
from a phoenix orange
to a baby pink
while I stayed blue

When you finally kissed me
that's when I knew,
that our bold opposites is what
attracted me to you

I wanted change,
someone to bring out the better in me
Create a new color that won't hurt as much,
One that wouldn't be as scary
Something warm, royal, and inviting

You wanted different,
to try something new
Brighten a color that wasn't you
An experiment out of curiosity
just something to do

You were red,
I was blue,
You said you'd never leave
but I guess purple wasn't for you.
