Mother-in-law

Who ever becomes a mother-in-law, behaves like a mother-in-law.......forgetting her own humiliation in the past.

Starry-eyed, as a demure bride,

Resplendent in jewels,

Into his house you came-

Hoping his mother would be yours.

Stripped off your jewels,

Your honour,not spared

To an article you were reduced.

Shattered o smithereens-

Lay all your dreams.

Years have gone by-

A daughter (in-law)awaits acceptance.

Beseeching  a tender word,

A gesture of love.

You curse her,

In unthinkable ways humiliate her.

Hanker after her father's wealth .

Forgetting those yesteryears ?

Or, is it vengeance mother-in-law?????

The poem speaks of very delicate emotion and in many households such is the relationship between a MIL and DIL.
But if both the persons respect and care for each other all will be well, though some people refuse to change.

and often we forget the tortures and humiliation we have been put through...
