Not Where You Are

Not Where You Are

A Poem by Iz

I open my eyes in the morning and wish it was you that I saw.
I cover my ears because it's not your voice I hear falling on them.
I cover my body because it's not your gentle and loving caress.
I close my mouth because it's not you I am talking to.

My arms hang limp by myside because you are not there for me to reach out for.
Without you around, I want nothing to do with anyone else.
I don't want to pretend I'm happy when you aren't here to cheer me up.
Just to make me laugh.

You are the one that my eyes search everywhere for.
You are the one that I hunger for.
You are the one the my ears are dying to hear your sweet voice
You are the one that my heart is  slowly breaking for because you aren't here.
At your side is where I belong.
In your arms is where I belong.
In your heart is where I want to always stay.
