Children Should be Seen & Not Heard

Children Should be Seen & Not Heard

A Poem by Onlyme

"Children should be seen and not heard".
An old English proverb dating from the
15th century.

Meaning Children can be present in a
conversation but should not speak,
particularly when they are around adults.

And or they should be present around
adults conversing but don't speak until
spoken to.

Sounds like the poor kids never stood a
chance.

Have things changed or are these old
values/traditions still alive?

As no wonder, a lot of kids are so unhappy
as they feel they just can't express themselves
at home to their family or parents more so.

As being ignored and undervalued it not a nice
feeling at all. Let alone feeling as they you are
not their, present in the moment.

How would they like to be treated like that, the
adults ignored and unvalued?

Kinda like my family, they all talk like I am a ghost in the family or like I am a child. I hate that feeling more than anything, it hurts my feelings. I like this write.
