Down but not out...

Down but not out...

A Poem by Onlyme

Feeling dejected, blue and depressed.
Feeling worthless, downtrodden and sad.
Wondering what is the point of it all.
Even my mojo has left me stranded on
a barren land.

Wrapped in darkness and loneliness.
Striving to lift my head above the waves
of despair.

Sinking faster than anything.
Sadness was so overwhelming. I could cry
constantly and do so.

Sleep is either my comforter or tormentor
depending on if I can sleep or not.
Being alone hides you from the world inside
and out.

Mental illness is not a badge of honour
it really is soul destroying, to say the least.

Takes your self-esteem, self-worth and respect
for yourself. And locks you up and throws the key
away.

Breaking the chains that bind you are not so easy
to release yours from at times.

But with patience understanding and good medication.
You can grow stronger and overcome.
And one day walk again with your head held high.

it is really sad when mental illness makes us lose self=worth....because it is a disease that is not self-induced...we don't ask for it to come and stay with us...and we try to get it to leave before it gets too comfortable, but that isn't always possible.
