What really is love?

Is it just a strong sexual desire.

Caring and sharing,

giving and hoping

and dreaming together.

Is it being there in good times

and bad times.

"When the s**t hits the fan,"

so to speak and you stand

together and come out the

another side.

 

A bit battered but you have

both overcame the grief and woes

life puts in your face at times.

And did not run away and start

again alone.

It's so easy to walk away in

this modern day and age.

Let alone find someone for

casual sex via the internet

in your local area.

Is love a deep emotional bond

between two minds, hearts and

souls. As well as communication and

understanding of each other's limits

and fears and needs.

Even when sometimes you may

think oh to hell. I give up.

But like a captain in deep waters

steering his ship to safe waters

you overcame and found safe haven again.

All this outwith every day having children,

jobs, cooking, cleaning and caring for the home you both share

. And pay bills and so forth

with.

The fairytales of white picket fences and

lovely dovey romantic love is great but reality

is really not like that a all.

If something is worth fighting for you would do

anything for your loved ones.

Within the law of course.

Don't get me wrong sometimes there are situations

and reasons why you sometimes have to leave someone

you really love as they are no good for you. I could go on.

Explaining being emotional, physical and mental abuse.

All those are the wrong reasons to stay in a relationship

with someone.

These are strong questions that I think everyone deserves to give an answer to according to their individual point of view.
To me, I barely write about love cause it sounds to me a bit complicated. Only what I can say about it is that love is just accepting each other as they both are. Accepting your partner merits and demerits together...

That's what I think love is. Because, In the name of it, many have gotten into a life time grief. We just have to be careful when we are considering to welcome it.

I believe love is feeling safe and making someone else feel safe. Sex is important. More for some people, less for another. Love based on sex, will fade. I remember my Grandfather would walked daily to Farmer Jacks, buy my dear grandmother her favorite things to eat. Love is when someone needs are more important then your own. I am a old man now and I forget the sex, but I remember holding hands and the sweet words shared. Never good to be alone. Need someone to keep us company and make us smile/laugh dear Dawn.

I don't find love easy to write about Dawn. Probably because to analyse it would be like writing an epic and I can't write yet alone read epic poetry. Love is all encompassing in both good times and bad times. When the going is good, it is easier to love, but when it gets tough, you have to call on all of your reserves and look at the bigger picture. I am left feeling that nowadays people can't dig in deep. They give up too easily. Thought provoking poem here.

You give a virtual catalog of the things that love is. I'm with you 100% love goes far beyond sex. It is all the things that people want to share and care for each other. In my own writing I don't believe that sex is an end in itself,but rather the end result of two people deeply loving each other.
