The Fruit of Love

The Fruit of Love

A Poem by Hannah Erickson

I am westward bound

Racing toward a dying sun

The promise of rebirth a day away

When I will watch the sun rise in your eyes

The heat of the star reflected there

Is no rival to our passion

I am chilled by the thought

Of such a warmth

Such a love that has existed

In time before and time to come

It has seen stars fade and reborn

Empires rise and fall

Diamonds form from coal

That love has been the constant voyeur

And it carries with it a wisdom to share

A seed to plant and nurture and grow

And when the tree of life is in bloom again

We will stand hand in hand

And know that life is the fruit of love

Nothing in all of space or time is more beautiful

This is a beautiful poem with so much imagery and feeling. I look for the love that feels like this and if it doesn't feel like this, I don't necessarily want it (that's not really true, different types of love and all, but you get it, I hope). Really good job!

This is the emulation of wisdom gained only through perspective, discovery of heart's greatest exigency, and
above all, honor between two that is forever true. This poem is very deep, sensual without sensory, heard without spoken words exchanged. It is very mature, confident, and above all, utmost certainty that the roads traveled have intertwined exactly where they should have, exactly where they always have, here in the now and through lifetimes before.
It is a great passage you have written to describe this love as a constant voyeur.
I think that's what those roads mean.

This is the only place where my writing from high school still exists. A lot of it is embarrassing to adult me, but I'm not going to begrudge teenage me of her thoughts and feelings. I may add som.. more..
