The Chains that Blind You

The Chains that Blind You

A Poem by Hannah Erickson
"

Having it out with society's expectations...

"

Conformity kisses
Its loyal subjects
With a sword

Dancing in your dreams
Time slips right by you
You never noticed

Wake up. Wake up.
Acknowledge your fate

Remember its creator
The face in the mirror
Remember its creator
Staring back at you

You let this happen
Now we're all paying
All pointing fingers

Discover your blindness
Your lack of feeling
Weightless chains that bind you

Awaken now. Awaken now.
Realize your disaster

Remember its creator
The face in the mirror
Remember its creator
Staring back at you

All pointing fingers
We're all paying
Your lack of feeling
The chains that bind you

About
